What is AFEM?

AFEM is an independent, not-for-profit, democratically run global trade association.  The AFEM team works in a way which reflects, promotes and preserves the best of electronic music culture and brings members together as a community, to solve issues and ensure a vibrant and successful future for our ecosystem.

Now in our 11th year, our global community stands at 297 member organizations across over 40 countries and all industry sectors, representing tens of thousands of industry professionals, artists and DJs and reaching millions of electronic music fans across the globe.

Our membership combines industry veterans and household names, through to the next generation and future stars – all are united by their passion for the music, our industry and our desire to positively influence its development and make a better scene for all.

AFEM exists to ensure sustainable success for our industry and enable the vibrancy of its music to bring positivity, community and unity to millions around the world.

How do I join AFEM?

Please fill out our membership enquiry form and we will get back to you. We may invite you to have a call with us, which is an opportunity for us to learn more about your current work and priorities, what you’re looking to get out of your membership and explore ways we can work together. If you’re eligible to join, we will send you further information to complete the signup process.

How much does it cost to join?
As a non-profit organization, our model is based on principles of fairness and equality. The cost of joining is based on your self-declared turnover, and the appropriate tier (1-16) for your business is outlined in this document: How to join AFEM. Membership fees start at a minimum of $300 USD per annum and scale upwards from there.

What payment methods are available?
Our membership fees are charged in USD, which can be paid via credit card (preferred) or bank transfer.
Is there a Code of Conduct for Members?
Members of AFEM are asked that they adhere to the advisory standards set out in the AFEM Code of Conduct and where possible add this to their HR policy.
I’m an existing member but my financial circumstances have changed. Who do I speak to about this?

How do I update my payment method for my membership fee?
You can update your payment details by logging onto your account and password. Please email us if you experience any difficulties and we would be happy to help.
Can my team or colleagues access member benefits?
We encourage you to share your AFEM membership with your colleagues. They can create a sub-account to access member only resources and receive our communications with news, discounts, invitations to events and more.
How do I share news, exclusive offers or a job vacancy with other AFEM members?
AFEM members have the opportunity to ask questions, share news, as well as offers and job vacancies via AFEM’s exclusive members-only Linkedin group in accordance with our community guidelines. Members may also contribute to the editorial of AFEM’s communications to our members where appropriate.
Who do I speak to about partnering with AFEM on events?
We welcome your ideas and offers to partner with AFEM. Previous collaborations have included hosting educational workshops, offering venues to host events, sponsoring networking events at major conferences, and offering resources to further AFEM’s initiatives or campaigns to strengthen the electronic music industry. Does AFEM offer a counselling service for its members?
Yes, AFEM offers a Member Assistance Program, which includes access to a 24/7 confidential helpline, legal and financial advice, counselling sessions, and additional well-being support services. The program is administered by Health Assured.
What other ways does AFEM support the health and wellbeing of its members?
AFEM promotes and co-creates in-person and online events, workshops, webinars, and panel discussions throughout the year, covering various health and well-being topics specific to the electronic music industry.
What are AFEM’s Working Groups?
AFEM Working Groups focus on both commercial and cultural aspects of the industry. With 10 active groups chaired by members and supported by AFEM staff, they meet at major conferences, online, and via email groups. The working groups cover areas like live sector recovery, diversity, technology, and health.
