SUSTAINABILITY

MISSION STATEMENT

The AFEM Sustainability Working Group exists to advocate for environmentally sustainable practices across every part of the electronic music industry, from festivals and clubs to the wider events ecosystem. We work to eliminate single-use plastics such as cups, straws and glitter from festivals, clubs and events, and to ensure free cold drinking water is available at every festival worldwide, reducing waste while protecting patron welfare. We are committed to moving the industry away from fossil fuels and toward renewable and sustainable energy providers, and to achieving carbon neutrality across the sector through a combination of emissions reduction and credible balancing measures. Through advocacy, collaboration and the sharing of best practice, we aim to make sustainability a core standard for how electronic music is created, performed and experienced globally.
