AFEM Signs EMMA-Led Call for Meaningful Consent in AI Music Deals

AFEM has signed the EMMA-led joint statement calling for artists and songwriters to retain meaningful consent, control, transparency and fair compensation in AI music deals.
This reflects AFEM’s wider commitment to responsible AI in electronic music and our belief that innovation must not come at the expense of creators’ rights. As AI contracts and licensing models continue to evolve, the music industry must build frameworks that work with artists and songwriters, not around them.
The statement sets out a clear position: no default opt-ins, no forced AI clauses, and no use of artists’ work, voice, performance, likeness or creative identity without meaningful consent, fair remuneration and full transparency.
