The  AFEM Diversity and Inclusion working group is pleased to present the report created from the AFEM Gender Diversity in the Electronic Music Industry Survey and authored by Prof. Samantha Warren.

This data is presented for the purpose of mapping attitudes and values among electronic music industry professionals towards diversity and inclusion matters. Several new questions are raised by the findings and the AFEM Diversity & Inclusion Group will explore effective follow-on actions, initiatives and cross- industry collaborations to address these.

Some key findings:

  • Less than half of women who identify as a minority believe their work is respected and taken seriously.
  • Women are three times less likely than men to progress to executive level positions.
  • 97% of respondents agree that D&I makes for a more engaging work environment.
  • 71% of women who identify as a minority felt like they had to ‘act like one of the boys’ in order to fit in at work.
